The controversial car |
You might recall that barely one week after 2face & Annie's traditional wedding in Eket, Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio presented the bride with a brand new Toyota Prado SUV and sponsored 20 of her family members to Dubai for the white wedding at an estimated cost of roughly 3 million Naira.
Read more after the cut.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the special adviser on Media & Publicity to the Senator President, David Mark however issued a statement that:
"Senator Mark did not visit Dubai for Tuface wedding rather he attended the 128th Inter parliamentary Union (IPU) conference currently holding in Quito, Ecuador. He was also not represented at Mr. Idibia’s wedding. It is also instructive to state that the President of the Senate, Senator Mark, did not make a car donation of any kind to Tuface before departing Nigeria for Ecuador neither did he purchase nor send any car to Dubai as a wedding gift for the musician or his wife. Who made the donation on behalf of the President of the Senate? It is therefore a puerile lie for anybody to state that Senator Mark bought a Ferrari car worth N47m for Tuface. The allegation is wicked, ridiculous and irresponsible."The pictures speak otherwise though and youths all over Nigeria are protesting this blatant waste of the country's funds. What makes it worse is the fact that the alleged 'gift' was given to the couple so shortly after Senator David Mark rejected the bill for unemployed graduates to be paid N20,000 monthly.Below is the broadcast message making it's way across social medias with the hope of making it viral:
"Shey Na Like This We Go Dey Go?
Our selfish leaders: Senate President David Mark REJECTED a Bill For Unemployed Graduates To Be Paid N20,000 Monthly
Yesterday, He Gave 2face A Ferrari Worth N47million naira. #Habaaaaa. "SHEY NA LIKE DIS WE GO DEY GO"?
Pls RE-broadcast let's make it viral on social media like 'Oga @ the top" thing...post it on any social media you know ..GOD bless us all ...thank you"Do pictures now lie? Does the human eye now deceive? Was it a N47 Million Naira prank? If the message from Nigerians protesting this gift goes viral, what is the expected results?
