Eyebrows 101: How To Get The Perfect Eyebrow shape

One question that I get asked by people a lot is "how can I shape and pencil my brows well?" As we all know, the eyebrows are about the most important part on the face when it comes to makeup. Let your eyeshadow be absolutely gorgeous; if your brows are faulty, the entire look will be faulty.
Well shaped eyebrows have the power to instantly transform the face and open up the eyes.

So, let's begin today's DIY eyebrow tutorial starting with how to shape your brows.

Shaping The Brows

First thing to keep in mind.... You can only work with what you have. Trying to turn your brows into something it's not will only lead to over shaping.

To get the perfect shape for your brows, you need to know the three major points in the eyebrow.
(1) Brows starting point (2) Natural Arch (3) Brows end point.

Eyebrow Key Points

Starting Point: Take a ruler or an eye pencil and place it in a straight line at the inner corner of your eye upward. Where it intersects your eyebrow is about the point where your brow should start from.

Natural Arch: The natural arch is usually the highest point in your eyebrow and is the major determinant of your eye brow shape. To get it, brush up the eyebrow with a brow brush or mascara wand ( an old tooothbrush will do the trick too) and locate the point where your brows arch or shoots up the most. * The natural arch is usually directly above the brow bone*

End Point:This is the lowest and the thinnest point of a brow. Usually, the eyebrow stops growing at that point naturally.

Once you've gotten the three key points, mark them on your brows with a pencil and use them to outline your ideal arch (see the red arrow on the picture above). You can then go ahead to remove the hairs that fall below the line.

*** Never Shape brows from above except if you are removing the stray hairs outside the shape***

Remember to always trim the brows when shaping them. Not doing it is the major cause of over shaping. Most times, the eyebrow hair is too long and can ruin the shape so the length needs to be reduced. To do this, brush  eyebrows upward and trim the longer hair that comes outside the shape (see the After Shaping picture) with a pair of small scizzors. Brush brows downward and repeat the same process.

How to Fill In The Brows coming next week.
Be sure to ask questions if you have them. Have a swell weekend :)
